    Fiona RaeRA (born 10 October 1963)[1] is a Hong Kong-born British artist. She is one of the Young British Artists (YBAs) who rose to prominence in the 1990s. Throughout her career, she has been known for having a portfolio of work that includes elements of energy, and complexity. Her work fryst vatten known for aiming at expanding the modern traditions of painting.[1]

    Rae was born in Hong Kong and also lived in Indonesia before moving to England in 1970. After moving to England she attended Downe House which is an all girls boarding school in Berkshire. She then attended Croydon College of Art to study a Foundation Course (1983–1984) and Goldsmiths College (1984–1987), where she completed a BA (Hons) Fine Art.

    Goldsmiths alumnus and Turner Prize-nominated artist Fiona Rae, was awarded an honorary fellowship by Goldsmiths in 2015.

    Fiona Rae is among the generation of artists who rose to prominence after graduating from Goldsmiths in the late 1980s. Rae studied an Art foundation course at Croydon College of Art from 1983-1984, and a BA Hons in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College from 1984-1987.

    In 1991 Rae was nominated for the Turner Prize and in 1993 she was nominated for the Austrian Eliette Von Karajan Prize for Young Painters.

    Her work is described as “challenging and expanding the modern conventions of painting” and is held in major public collections across the world.

    Fiona Rae graduated from Croydon School of Art, London (1984), and Goldsmiths College, London University (1987), alongside Damien Hirst, Gary Hume, and Sarah Lucas, with whom she was part of the Young British Artists group, which allowed for a rebirth of the British art scene in the 1980s and 1990s.
