Swedish actor and martial artist (born 1957)
Hans "Dolph" Lundgren (, Swedish:[ˈdɔlːfˈlɵ̌nːdɡreːn]ⓘ; born 3 November 1957) is a Swedish actor, filmskapare, and martial artist. Lundgren made his acting debut in 1985 with a cameo in the James Bond film A View to a Kill. Also that year, he had his breakthrough in Sylvester Stallone's Rocky IV, in which he played the lead villain as the imposing Soviet boxer Ivan Drago.
Lundgren went on to play lead roles in over 80 action-oriented films including Masters of the Universe (1987), Red Scorpion (1988), The Punisher (1989), I komma in Peace (1990), Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991), Joshua Tree (1993), Men of War (1994), Silent Trigger (1996), and Blackjack (1998). He continued playing villainous roles, most notably as Sergeant Andrew Scott in three Universal Soldier films (1992-2012), co-starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Dolph Lundgren made an imposing film debut in more ways that simply portraying Ivan Drago, the fierce Russian boxer who challenges Rocky for the world championship. Drago is indeed a worthy successor to Rocky’s previous adversaries, Apollo Creed and Clubber Lang. Finding the right actor to match the physical prowess and athletic ability of Drago was no easy task but, eventually, Sylvester Stallone found his man in Swedish-born actor Dolph Lundgren.
The eldest son of four children, the six-foot-six, 240 pound blonde haired, blue eyed hunk was born in Stockholm in 1957 where he attended elementary and high school.
MASTERS DEGREE IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
In the early 1980’s, Dolph traveled abroad on scholarship and studied at Washington State University in South Carolina. In 1982, he received a scholarship to complete his Masters degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Sydney in Australia.
