Hossein Amini (Persian: حسین امینی; born 18 January 1966) is an Iranian-born British screenwriter and film director who has worked as a screenwriter since the early 1990s. He was nominated for numerous awards for the 1997 film The Wings of the Dove, including an Academy Award for Best Writing – Adapted Screenplay. He also won a "Best Adapted Screenplay" award from the Austin Film Critics Association for his screenplay adaptation of Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive (2011), based on the novel by James Sallis. For his directorial debut, he both wrote and directed The Two Faces of January, an adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel.
Early life, family and education
[edit]Born in Tehran, Imperial State of Iran, Amini spent his early life and attended the British School in Tehran. When he was 11 years old, he and his family moved to England.[1]

Hossein Amini is a film writer who was nominated for an Oscar for his adaptation of Henry James' classic novel Wings of a Dove, which starred Helena Bonham Carter, Linus Roach, and Alison Elliott.
He has also written Jude, starring Kate Winslet and Christopher Ecclestone, which won the Edinburgh Film festival prize for Best British Film, and has worked on Gangs of New York, starring Daniel Day Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as The Four Feathers with Heath Ledger.
In 2011, he wrote the screenplay for Drive starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan, which was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for Best bio at the BAFTAs in 2012.
