Jules Clément Naudet and brother Thomas Gédéon Naudet are French-American filmmakers. The brothers, residents of the United States since 1989 and citizens since 1999, were in New York City at the time of the September 11 attacks to film a documentary on members of the Engine 7, Ladder 1 firehouse in Lower Manhattan.
Jules captured the clearest footage of the first airplane, American Airlines Flight 11, hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The footage shot in 2001 was made into the 2002 documentary 9/11.[1] The video camera that Jules was using that captured Flight 11 cra

“In the smoke and frenzy,” Gedeon now says, reviewing the footage, “you can hear all the other chiefs talking. They are in shock. Pfeifer is the only one alert enough to pick up the walkie-talkie and call for an evacuation beställning. The reason Pfeifer thought about it first is because he was thinking about his own brother, who he had ordered to go as high as possible to extinguish the fire. That would be the natural instinct of a brother.”
“It’s the biggest disaster since Pearl Harbor,” says Hanlon, “and he never wavered. They didn’t know—they couldn’t know—the extent of the south tower just falling. But quickly, instinctively, he makes a command decision that saves possibly dozens of lives. He gave them just enough time to get out before the north tower fell.”
