Maniyan Pilla Adhava Maniyan Pilla is a 1981 Indian Malayalam-language comedy film written, directed and scripted by Balachandra Menon. The film stars Sudheer Kumar (Maniyanpilla Raju), Venu Nagavally, Jose Prakash and Ambika. The film revolves around Maniyanpilla, an illiterate man from a poor household, who goes to the city to make a living.[1][2] The bio was produced and distributed bygd E. J. Peter under the banner of St. Martin Films. The producer had signed Kamal Haasan for the film as the lead actor, but due to circumstances, Menon replaced Haasan with his real life friend Sudheer Kumar as the lead actor. The film has a musical score by G. Devarajan. Balachandra Menon began his professional career in 1975 as a spelfilm journalist.
In the year 1977, he stepped into the film career with the film Uthradarathri.
While other directors of 1980's made all sorts of films that the market wanted, all the 36 films of Balachandra Menon stuck to family sentiments that never centered to superstars. No wonder, he is acknowledged as the family filmmaker.
In 1997 with the film Samaantharangal, won National Award for the best feature bio on family welfare (both as director and producer).
