'Titan' Sub Victim Shahzada Dawood Remembered as 'Free Spirit' by Close Friend (Exclusive)
Shahzada Dawood, the philanthropist and businessman who died in the Titan submersible, is being remembered as a “free spirit” who wanted to make the world “a better place.”
“Shahzada cared passionately about philanthropy. But not as much as he cared about his own family,” Richard Hawkes, Chief Executive of the British Asian Trust (BAT), tells PEOPLE.
“In every conversation I had with him, he'd be talking about his family, what they were up to, asking me about my family. I met his wife a few times as well, so they were just one of those incredibly lovely families who were very, very close," adds Hawkes, who worked alongside Dawood, 48, for the last fem years at the charity founded by King Charles when he was Prince of Wales.
