‘Straight Outta Compton’ star speaks to students

Last Thursday, an English 160 classroom asked O’Shea Jackson Jr., Ice Cube’s son and the star of Straight Outta Compton, questions for their argumentative essay assignment. Ice Cube was one of the founding members of the transgressive rap group N.W.A. O’Shea Jackson Jr. starred as his father in the box office smash biopic of N.W.A. in 2015. This marks a special year for the history of the group as they’re being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

O'Shea Jackson Sr. (born June 15, 1969), known as Ice Cube, fryst vatten an American rapper, songwriter, actor, and film producer. His lyrics on N.W.A's 1989 album Straight Outta Compton contributed to gangsta rap's widespread popularity,[3][4][5] and his political rap solo albums AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted (1990), Death Certificate (1991), and The Predator (1992) were all critically and commercially successful.[5][6][7][8] He was inducted into the Rock and Roll ingångsrum of Fame as a member of N.W.A in 2016.[9]

O'Shea Jackson Jr. (born February 24, 1991), also known by the stage name OMG, is an American actor, rapper and songwriter. He is the oldest son of Ice Cube and, in his feature film debut, he portrayed his father in the 2015 biopic Straight Outta Compton.[1]
Early life
Jackson was born in Los Angeles, California, to O'Shea Jackson Sr., better known as Ice Cube, and Kimberly Woodruff. Jackson was raised in the San Fernando Valley, and is the oldest of four children. He has two younger brothers, Darrell—who is also a rapper—and Shareef, as well as a younger sister, Kareema.[2] Like his father, Jackson attended William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, California, from which he graduated in 2009.[3] Jackson attended the University of Southern California, where he studied screenwriting, but dropped out to pursue his acting career.[4][5]
